6 Hours
Workshop Description
This project class will teach you the basics of collage on a unusual surfaces. Collage, antiquing, mixed media, layout and design will be instructed and discussed. I used a recycled silverware box to create a jewelry box. You can use any decorative box, but that old vinyl jewelry box from the 60's or 70's would be ideal. So start to check out the antique and thrift stores to find your perfect match for this project. You can use copies of family photos to give your piece the feeling of kinship and warmth that will make it a family heirloom. Have a theme in mind such as sock hop, music, mother/grandmother, friends, whatever pleases you. You will design and create a piece of art that comes about as the result of an original collage design. A piece of art you can use each day and enjoy.
