This is a study on building a collage, from start to finish. I will teach you a three part process of set-up, format and design. You will learn to choose the appropriate colors, theme and hard collage application. You will also learn to add metallic pieces where appropriate to give interest to your finished work. We will build your collage on a 5 x 7 canvas or larger. The pictures I have illustrated were completed on a "wrapped" canvas. In this way you will "wrap" your collage materials on the sides and not need to frame your finished art work. Please choose a theme for your piece. I used an Egyptian/female/beauty theme for the illustrated piece that is displayed. You can choose any theme: family, friends, animals, children, modern, gothic, country, grunge, travel, etc.

Supply list for students

• One or more: 5 x 7 or larger Monet Masterwrap Cotton Canvas with 1" deep sides or flat canvas of your choice.
• Magazine pages: 6 colors, 2 pages of each color. Choose colors that will match the theme of your piece. Do not hesitate to choose complimentary colors...orange/blue, green/purple, red/orange/yellow and one deep color, such as black, navy or maroon to compliment your piece.
• Several of your favorite magazines with pictures you love
• Golden Soft Gel Medium (Matte)
• Ultimate Glue
• Brush to apply gel medium
• Water carrier
• Ephemera: paper, small jewelry pieces, coins, shiny small pieces to fit onto your canvas.
• Choose a metallic theme: If you would like to add metallics to your piece, please bring them along. They can be in one color or several. Example: silver, gold, red or silver/black, gold/red, gold/silver.
